APRIL 12 & 19

CERAMIC HANDBUILDING
TWO-DAY ART CLASS

“Pinch Pot” Fish Sculpture

Day 1: Friday, April 12 - 3:30-5:00pm (1.5 hrs)
Day 2: Friday, April 19 - 3:30-4:30pm (1 hr)
For Ages 6-12 • $70

This special, two-day ceramic class will guide students through the basics of ceramic clay handbuilding and glazing, each creating a beautiful and unique “pinch pot” fish sculpture, from clay construction to glazing!

Day 1 (Friday, April 12): Construct/build the fish sculpture; learn how to create essential shapes in clay, go through the entire construction process using “score and slip” to attach pieces such as fins and eyes, and use clay tools to carve textures and add design details.

Day 2 (Friday, April 19): The clay sculptures will be dry, and ready for painting on glaze. Colorful glazes - with every rainbow hue to choose from - must be painted in at least 3 coats (layers) for maximum shininess.

After glazing, the sculptures will remain in the Art Studio to fully dry and then be fired in a kiln; ready in about 1-2 weeks after class. You will be notified by email when they are ready to pick up and take home.
