We offer enriching art education through multi- and single-day Art Camps for children and teens, incorporating a variety of professional art materials and techniques. From painting to pastels, printmaking, clay, sculpture, fiber arts, and more…. Grow your artistic skills and gain new ones in a comfortable, creative learning environment!

“Welcome To Japan” Art Camp

April 6-9 • Monday-Thursday
9am-12pm • Ages 7-12

  • Enjoy TWO projects continuing the week’s theme of Japanese-inspired artwork: Create a Kawaii-style character using colorful alcohol markers and ink. Paint a striking koi fish in a spring pond with watercolors.

    We will take a 20-minute break halfway through the morning, please bring your own water bottle. You’re welcome to pack a snack (mindful of nut allergies). Snacks are not provided.

“Kawaii & Koi”
Art Camp

Friday, April 10
9am-12pm • Ages 7-12

  • Welcome to Japan! Students will be immersed in the beautiful art and inspiring culture of Japan, learning about both ancient art-making practices like Shibori dye, ink printmaking (think, Hokusai’s Great Wave), and calligraphy, as well as modern animation (Anime), and Japanese cartooning. We will capture the spring blossoms of the cherry trees in acrylicpainting, sculpt a clayTotoro” character from the popular Japanese film by Studio Ghibli, and include projects inspired by Japanese cuisine, too: Mochi, Boba Tea, and Sushi! Say “Kon'nichiwa” to a super fun and creative week ahead!

    Learning: Art History & Culture, Anime and Kawaii Styles, Shibori Dye, Printmaking, Painting and Drawing, Color Theory, Brush Control & Blending, Shading & Values, Composition, 3D Clay Sculpture, Paper Art & Notan, Character Design, Contemporary Art

    Each camper’s artwork will be collected into a personal portfolio to be taken home at the end of Art Camp, on the last day.

    We will take a

  • AM Camp: Sweet Treats -  Bring your sweet tooth and your creativity! Polymer clay, painting, drawing, and more… all things sweet will be our inspiration for art this week!

    Friday Camp: Optical Illusions - Trick the eye with these dizzying, mind-blowing optical illusions, created with pencils and ink on paper in 2D… but looking so 3D that you might leave Art Camp scratching your head! Learn about black-to-white values and shading, and how these simple gradients are the key to optical puzzlement.

  • AM Camp: World Travelers - Grab your passport and your paintbrush, World Travelers, we’re going around the globe to learn about art! Visit a variety of beautiful countries to learn about ancient and local art forms and styles, and meet some legendary makers in the process.

    PM Camp: Into The Jungle - Visit the rainforest and jump “Into the Jungle” this week. Painting, drawing, sculpting, and MORE will be on our Jungle-tastic itinerary of art projects!

  • AM Camp: Ocean Life - Get ready for a deep dive into Ocean Life! Inspired by gentle sea creatures and oceanic settings, paint with watercolor, sculpt with clay, practice printmaking, and MORE! So much to “sea” and create this week!

    PM Camp: Cartooning & Illustration - Stretch your skills into the world of illustration, animation, and cartooning this week. Create in styles such as Japanese Manga and American Pop-Art; use bright colors, expressive emotions, and originality in your creative cartooning projects!

    Friday Camp: Plant Power - Make two plant-themed projects in this half-day Art Camp: a mini potted succulent or cactus plant sculpture (polymer clay), and a bright still-life painting of a vibrant potted plant (paint), learning painting and clay sculpture techniques.

  • AM Camp: Kawaii & Anime - Create the CUTEST creatures and characters this week – literally: “kawaii”  means “cute” in Japanese! This style of cartooning is simplified and adorable. We’ll create emotional & expressive food items and animals characters, and practice general anime style in portraits and other illustrations.

    PM Camp: Forest Life - Imagine stepping into the trees for this week of creativity, with all projects inspired by the plants and wildlife of the forest. Toadstools, woodland creatures, botanical landscapes, and more!

    Friday Camp: Needle Felting - Create two projects dedicated to beautiful wool and made through needle felting, flat and sculptural! Make a small animal figurine in fibers, and also a mini tapestry landscape.

  • AM Camp: Fiber Arts - Explore a variety of fabric, needle, and weaving arts with string, wool, and thread! Basket weaving, needle felting, simple sewing, batik fabric dying, and tie dye will keep us creating all week long.

    PM Camp: Ceramics Handbuilding - It’s CLAY WEEK! Campers will experience ceramic clay every day through a variety of handbuilding projects! Learn basic clay construction techniques including coil and slab building to create 3-6 ceramic sculptures, both decorative and functional (animals, houses, dishes, wall-hangings!). Glazing each piece with bright colors is the final step before the kiln. All clay projects will remain in the studio until fully dried and fired, available for pick-up 2-3 weeks after camp. You will be notified by email when your projects are ready!

  • AM Camp: Master Artists - Learn about notable master artists around the world and throughout history, creating your own personal masterpieces inspired by their iconic works and styles! Abstract modern art, Renaissance works, decorative folk art, story-telling portraits… So many different and influential styles!

    PM Camp: National Parks - Honor some of the most magnificent US National Parks, creating artworks inspired by our country’s diverse and scenic beauty. Projects will include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpting, and more! Join in for this imaginary road trip around the country!

    Friday Camp: Kawaii - Two kawaii-style projects that will capture the cuteness of Japanese cartooning. Draw sweet and dramatic facial expressions on plants, animals, and even food items using pencils and illustration markers, and sculpt a kawaii-style figurine in polymer clay!
